That’s where you come in. As they spread the word and bring more customers aboard, they need a System Engineer / Linux Expert to join their Infrastructure team in Dublin, Ireland.

Your work on the analysis and deployment of different systems for corporate and production usage on systems distributed over Europe, the Americas and Asia.

As their System Engineer / Linux Expert you take part of challenging projects to scale up their infrastructure and new standards for building bricks used to run the products and services of the company.

You also ensure the uptime of the company’s Infrastructure by making the right choice at all stages of the project lifecycle. You can for example define hardware needs and discuss design choices, work on optimizing and keeping in sync the configurations across the different platforms but also securing and improving the monitoring around those tools.

You are part of a highly skilled and trained team with a vast variety of responsibilities and broad knowledge. You’ll be working with other Systems engineers but also Network and Switching Engineers of the Infrastructure operations team and in close relation with project managers, product owners, developers, R&D engineers and NOC members.

You have a transversal view on all projects and could be involved in design discussions from other team’s projects as well

You’ll work as part of a young and vibrant bunch of people across San Francisco, Austin, Los Angeles, London, Brussels, Iasi, Seoul and Hong Kong.

Company stack

The company is a Java house, with C++ being the second most used language.

They also use Python, C# and Ruby for smaller projects. They use Subversion and GitHub (with less of the former and more of the latter every day). They use Swagger/OpenAPI to define our RESTful API’s and implement them using Spring Boot. They build and deploy using Gradle, Jenkins and Nexus. Static analysis is done using SonarQube and Coverty, Unit Testing is covered with JUnit and Mockito. They test them BDD style using Cucumber.

Their UI is created in JSP, with some GWT, but they are currently evaluating a move to using Angular, React or Vue.

Their products are built on RedHat Enterprise Linux.

The company has an exciting opportunity for an Electrical and Control Systems Engineer to work with Global Rolled Products, Manufacturing, Technology and Engineering - Center of Excellence. The Electrical and Control Systems Engineer will provide expert consulting service, advice, and on-site support for the group in the areas of equipment and process reliability. 
 The group is responsible for equipment reliability improvement, process improvement, equipment troubleshooting and upgrade support, automation and smart manufacturing, standard practice implementation, and major capital projects. This is a key role in the global Manufacturing, Technology and Engineering organization within the business group. This business group has several domestic and international locations, with various manufacturing facilities the Electrical and Systems Control Engineer will support. The home of the group and the ideal location for the incumbent is based 20 miles outside of Knoxville, TN, but the internal applicants may also choose to be based in Lancaster, PA or Davenport, IA. 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • The incumbent will report into the Electrical Engineering Manager for the group which is responsible for the electrical aspects of equipment, control systems, process support, and capital projects globally.
