Job Description: PRODUCT DESIGNER

The company is transforming auto insurance claims, committed to providing superior, digital road collision management services to drivers on a global basis. Increasing driver safety, improving wellbeing and peace of mind, and supporting their mobility and vehicle repair/replacement needs following what can be a traumatic event, we are working across the auto manufacturer, telematics and insurance industries.

They are a mid-stage start-up (pre-series A) backed by leading European VCs, with a great pipeline of partnerships looking to integrate their value proposition into their business model. They are looking for people with a passion for what they do, keen to join them as they scale.

Description

At a crucial stage in our UX/UI journey, they are looking for a Product Designer with experience of applying the freedom and the autonomy necessary to take the initiative on experience design. They are looking for a detail-oriented problem-solver who is willing to take responsibility for defining and documenting service design decisions as we grow.

Responsibilities

Key requirements would be to work with the product team in order to support the consumption of user stories by the development team (currently offshore) – on a day-to-day basis this entails:

• Leading UX research to gather and respond to customer insights, conduct primary and secondary research, and prototype feature development as part of design ahead processes

• Identifying user-centred design problems – to solve in designing elegant and simple interactions and visuals, pushing our product usability further

• Define and refine our visual language and design system/guidelines

• Join the Product Manager and Tech Lead in defining new features, leading design reviews and key rituals to drive the product forward efficiently

• Design the end-to-end workflows, customer interactions & user flows and iterate on key product interactions and visuals

• Iterate and improve on shipped work or new projects based on feedback from the wider team and our users

Skills

• Experience with digital product design, looking for an opportunity to exercise creativity and passion for pushing UX and UI design standards

• Ability to work across platforms (mobile web, iOS, Android), using a tool of their choice (they use Figma currently)

• Systems thinker with an appreciation of the entire product design process, from problem solving and ideation through to UI Design and execution

• Experience with delivering design documentation to large enterprises – with examples of work they have helped to ship

• Experience with creating beautified mock-ups and clickable prototypes

• Skills in building usability through motion design, delivering animation assets for consumption by front end development teams

• Well-rounded team player, who is comfortable explaining design decisions, delivering a pipeline and rationale to other designers, PMs and senior stakeholders

• Ability to iterate quickly and refine to pixel-perfection while rationalising decisions against business requirements

• Open minded approach to design, research and testing

• Appreciation of user centred design

• Ability to organise and prioritise workload

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of HTML and CSS

• Knowledge of Design Thinking, Lean Start-up methods and Agile design

• Experience with the automotive industry / an interest in Connected Car technology

Experience Qualifications

• 2+ years working full time as a Product Designer with a portfolio demonstrating product design process and decision making

• Experience in designing across multiple platforms and responsive design

• Experience working in product teams in a collaborative manner
