Due to their successes and continued growth, we are seeking experienced and highly motivated Urban Designers to join their team in Bracknell to assist with our growing portfolio of projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation and overseeing of conceptual urban design and planning work, feasibility studies, master planning, development briefs, design & access statements and design strategies for residential and mixed use schemes for developers, land owners and private clients.
Strong design, graphics and report writing (where appropriate) skills are a pre-requisite alongside a proactive approach to problem solving. It is anticipated that the successful Senior Urban Designer will assist Associates/Director on major projects; manage junior members of the team as well as manage project workload and assist with further business development

Purpose of Role: To support the project team to deliver the very highest quality urban design work within the company
Duties & Responsibilities
• To develop an understanding of the urban design/masterplan project and conduct research into relevant technical, urban design and planning issues.
• To support the of specifications, plans and drawings together with development briefs, design statements, design codes and other documents as required under supervision.
• To support project teams throughout the design process from brief development to site analysis, design development and the preparation of planning applications.
• To contribute or otherwise assist with the tasks for preparing work and managing the project under supervision.
• Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration with full design team and others.
• Follow a set technical approach for design and drawing production.
• Gain a thorough knowledge of and compliance with the company procedures and standards including compliance with Quality Management System and Health and Safety requirements.
Skills & Qualities
• Able to demonstrate the desire to undertake the above responsibilities.
• Good design skills with an interest in resolving the diverse technical requirements of the project with the aspirations of place making.
• Good interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well either individually or in a team.
• Good verbal, graphic and written communication skills.
• A passion for deliverable design and a proven ability to communicate ideas in a clear and exciting way.
• An interest in working in a multi-disciplinary environment.
• Able to use a variety of media in the design development and documentation of a design project.
• Resilience to cope with conflicting demands, able to prioritise duties and work effectively under pressure while remaining calm and professional at all times.
• Flexible attitude.
• Ability to use some of the following: PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign, Vectorworks, SketchUp, AutoCAD, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
• An aspiration to progress within their career and a commitment to on-going professional development.
Qualifications & Experience
• Education to degree level in Urban Design. The role would also suit a graduate Architect (Part 2) or Landscape Architect graduate. Other qualifications and experience would be considered on an individual basis.
• Relevant industry related work experience would be advantageous.
Training
For each tier in the team, the company will provide appropriate levels of support, guidance and supervision. As a graduate Urban Designer or Technician, there will be a higher level of guidance and supervision to help to develop the best talent. There will be on-the-job and classroom training where required, and the opportunity to work on live client projects, with significant multi-disciplinary exposure.
