Description:

Position: Associate Planner

The company is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Associate to join their team in Central London to lead on a wide portfolio of work, demonstrating the highest level of quality and client care.

The role requires someone that is capable of delivering, maintaining and developing the highest standards of client care as well as the ability to win new business.

In addition to business development, you will also be required to assist in the day-to-day management of the team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a number of complex projects for a range of blue chip clients as well as private landowners and developers.

The position requires someone capable of taking a lead role on planning applications, appeals and site promotions. You will also be required to manage both the project team within the office as well as the consultant team. As such, excellent communication skills are an essential requirement for this role.

You will have a minimum of 7 years experience and be a Chartered Member of the RTPI. Previous private consultancy experience is essential.

Job Description:

Purpose of Role

To provide a professional role to take forward a wide portfolio of general planning consultancy project
work including residential and regeneration schemes, town expansion, retail, renewable energy, commercial, rural and heritage related developments (dependent on the work portfolio of the office you are working at).

You will also be responsible for developing and defending planning policy.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • · Preparation, submission and negotiation of planning applications, including project management of team
  • · Coordination and preparation of appeals including providing evidence at inquiries
  • · Coordination and implementation of strategies for development plan promotions
  • · Conducting research and site appraisals
  • · Direct client contact, developing client relationships and generating work
  • · Keep up to date with legislation, Government guidance and best practice in all areas of Planning.
  • · Identification of Business Development opportunities and the implementation of strategies to generate new business
  • · Co-ordination of project teams and project management
  • · Staff development, management and training including assistance with the day-to-day running of the office
  • · To work actively to promote good customer relations with all section of the community.
  • •Develop and expand client base which will include writing proposals for new projects/clients and preparation of tender responses.
  • • Assist in managing the planning team including resource allocation in liaison with the Planning Director.
  • · Mentor junior members of the team.

Qualifications, Experience & Ability

  • · RTPI qualified
  • · At least 5 years post MRTPI experience
  • · Have good local planning knowledge and client contacts
  • · Have strong project and staff management skills
  • · People orientated approach and confident bringing new ideas into the Practice
  • · Used to working with minimal supervision and have a strong ability to use their own initiative
  • · Capable of managing a wide and complex workload
  • · Personable and a strong team player
  • · Full driving licence and access to a car
