Description:

The company is recruiting for a team player to join their friendly, family-owned business and work in our clean, well-equipped workshop based at Bishops Cleeve.

As one of their technicians, you’ll be maintaining our mixed fleet of rigid and articulated vehicles to high standards in line with DVSA and FTA requirements.

Large goods vehicle experience is essential and ideally you’ll be qualified or semi-skilled (C&G HGV parts 1, 2 and 3, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent, or relevant experience).

It would be great if you have an LGV licence and knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems, but it’s not essential and we’ll always train the right people.

Job Pupose:

To be part of a team providing a high quality, reliable and cost-effective vehicle maintenance service. Carrying out repairs, inspections and MOTs on a varied fleet of the company’s vehicles to a high standard in accordance with relative manufacturers and legislative guidelines.

Key Duties:

• Carry out vehicle inspections, repairs, including manufacturer warranty repairs and services in a timely manner and against agreed deadlines in accordance with supplier and Ministry standards.
• Prepare and submit LGV vehicles for annual MOT inspections.
• Undertake fault diagnosis, repair and report mechanical defects on hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical equipment.

• Follow Company processes and procedures regarding completion of service reports, documentation and paperwork.
• Ensure full compliance with task RA and SOP in line with the Company’s Health & Safety procedures and regulations at all times.
• Follow appropriate reporting process where necessary in the event of incident and near-miss occurrences.
• Work in a safe and clean manner at all times adhering to Grundon and relative legislative regulations, processes and procedures.
• Ensure uniform/PPE is worn at all times whilst on duty and is kept in a tidy fashion and serviceable manner in accordance with the Company’s Health and Safety requirements.
• Provide a high level of support and guidance to apprentice technicians and colleagues.
• Provide roadside assistance where safe to do so, to broken down vehicles.
• Undertake all relevant training to ensure skills and knowledge are maintained to the highest level to meet Company, depot and legislation requirements.
• Good understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics and electrics, with strong practical and fitting skills on mechanical and technical equipment.
• Be able to demonstrate a good understanding of current relevant Health & Safety legislation.
• Competent to make cost effective and safe repairs.
• Good interpersonal skills promoting a positive and professional attitude to all customers.
• Be able to communicate effectively, both written and verbal.
• Ability to use own initiative and demonstrate willingness and flexibility to undertake new tasks where necessary.
• Good team worker with ability to work unsupervised when required.
• Good problem-solving skills.
• Report for work on time and ensure satisfactory completion of duty hours.
• Flexibility in working hours and occasional cover at other sites may be required to meet business and depot needs.
• Eensure full compliance with all Company policies and procedures, including health and safety and employment.
• Any other duties, such as ad hoc projects, as requested by the jobholder’s manager or the Board of Directors that are within the skills and capabilities of the job holder.

Qualifications:

• City & Guilds HGV parts 1, 2, & 3 or NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent, with suitable and relevant vehicle knowledge and experience.

• Ideally hold a current LGV licence Class 2 minimum and digital tachograph card with a good understanding of tachograph system.
• Have 10 years’ experience working on HGV
• Preferably hold a valid driver CPC

Experience / Skills / Knowledge:

• Good understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics and electrics with strong practical and fitting skills on mechanical and technical equipment.
• Be able to demonstrate a good understanding of current relevant Health & Safety legislation.
• Competent to make cost-effective and safe repairs.

• Good interpersonal skills promoting a positive and professional attitude to all customers.
• Be able to communicate effectively, both written and verbal.
• Ability to use own initiative and demonstrate willingness and flexibility to undertake new tasks where necessary.

What are the working hours?

Your working week will average 47.75 hours worked over a two-week cycle.

Week 1: Monday to Friday, 6am to 4.30pm, plus Saturday morning, 6am to 11.30am.

Week 2: Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 5pm.
